Penhaligon´s fue fundada a fines de 1860 por William Henry Penhaligon, quien fue el peluquero de la Realeza Británica y perfumista de la Reina Victoria.

Hoy,  cuando compras algún producto de Penhaligon´s verás que lleva un sellito que los valida como proveedores de la Corte Real. Como para sentirte una Reina!

DESIGNERS - La Belle époque

CHARLES WORTH

Quién? Charles Frederick Worth (1826/1895)  fue un diseñador británico que triunfó en Paris, y fue conocido como "El Padre de la Alta Costura".

Estilo y Diseño?  Vestidos costosos y opulentos, algunos que simbolizaban  siglos pasados. Worth introdujo el uso de crinolina al vestuario. Esta consiste en una estructura metalica y textil que actuaba de sostén de tapaditos y faldas, logrando su apogeo en épocas de la Emperatriz Eugenia.

Who? Charles Frederick Worth ( 1826-1895) was an English dressmaker who found fame in Paris and became known as “The Father of Modern Haute Couture”.

Style and design? Opulent and incredibly expensive gowns, many of which were redolent of earlier centuries. Worth was also recognized for introducing the crinoline. This cone-shaped contraption, made up of cloth and metal, was used to support expensive petticoats/skirts and became the fashionable mode of dress, mainly through the patronage of Empress Eugenie of France.

FASHION MEETING at VEVU

El evento tendrá lugar en Palermo, El Salvador 4663 de 17 a 18 horas. Habrá un descuento especial para las invitadas, sobre el precio de liquidación.

I LOVE: BRIXTON - LONDON

Londres está lleno de circuitos divertidos e interesantes para descubrir.

En esta ocasión, paseamos un sábado al mediodia con mi amiga Valeria y un amigo de ella que vive en la ciudad hace muchos años por la zona de Brixton.

Brixton es la capital no oficial de la comunidad afro y caribeña. En los últimos tiempos se fue poniendo de moda, y sus mercados albegan un mix muy bizarro de carnicerías, bares, restaurantes, y tiendas vintage,  que son un primor. Acá todos los fines de semana hay algún evento especial.

Si bien es visitado por  gente de todas partes del mundo, no encontrarás esos  turistas "obvios" sino mas bien gente cool. Parejas: ella blanca, él negro, japonesas que parecen salidas de caricaturas y una comunidad local, de raza negra.

My recent  discovery in London, recommended by a friend of a friend who lives in the city,  was Brixton Market . The day ? On Saturday.

I was not only thrilled by it´s multicultural visitors, but also  by it ´s local people, mostly from

UK colonies.

The shops, bars and little places within the market, are so friendly and colourful that it is really fun to appreciate the mix and enjoy the atmosphere.

Hopefully, I discovered my new favorite vintage shop in London: "Anami & Janine" a cute and cozy place where Janine herself guides you  through the lovely pieces.

EXHIBITIONS & EVENTS: BRITANNICA

Britannica es una pequeña muestra de vestidos realizada en el subsuelo de la mega-tienda inglesa Selfridge´s.

Destaca los modelitos utilizados durante la decada del 50, período en el que la Reina asume el trono .

I had the chance to enjoy this cute and very resumed exhibition at Selfridge`s London.

It shows fashion at the 50`s in England. Also at the ground floor I could browse at the Britannica pop-up store...

Definitively another tribute to the Queen`s Diamond Jubilee, together with  a good marketing strategy.

LONDRES: PORTOBELLO MARKET

..En el mercado de Portobello, Londres.

Disfrutar cada una de las puertitas que conducen a estas casas de película es un placer...

Hay de todos los colores y casi todas tienen el mismo tamaño.

Pero, a la vez todas te transportan a otra época y te llevan a pensar quien las habita...

Esta es una de las grandes atracciones de este lugar increíble,

Each one of them carries us to another time , another era...
I wonder who lives there ? and enjoy discovering them..

DESIGNERS & SHOPS: ANAMI & SHOPS

I visited Anami & Janine, located in Brixton´s market,  a sunny afternoon of May 

Iwas instantly attracted to the vintage atsmosphere and the cozy setting of the store.

Hopefully I was also received by Janine, one of the owners who guided me through the whole selection.

I loved it and promised to return !

 

 Beautiful accesories also decorated the shop...

This lot of dresses designed by them reflected a 40`s aura with a contemporary twist.

Finally I decided and took this red version of A&J and wore it to go out ....

My version was in red & shoes by H&M

and this other one

This bug silkey dress was my option to visit Ballgowns Exhibition

The place is followed by several interesting women; Regina Spektor and Florence Welch are some of them...
